It is Karl's intention, like groups like Medeski Martin & Wood, Charlie Hunter and Soulive, to help shape groove jazz. Dance Lesson # 2 is therefore a collection of funky, soul-driven and lyrical songs, embellished with interesting instrumental excursions, including several elaborate tenor saxophone solos by Karl himself.
