Although a new studio album from Five (Kingsize) was released recently, there is now a collector out of this popular British boy band. Since 1998, three albums of the five have been released, of which ten singles can all be found on Greatest Hits, supplemented with six album tracks and two remixes. Five has a patent on the typical boy band ballad but even more on dance pop with a heavy edge: heavy
… guitar work and rap, making them one of the nicer groups in the genre. Examples are the catchy Keep On Movin, Slam Dunk (Da Funk) and the Queen cover We Will Rock You, which is wonderfully well presented. In addition, Five uses well-known samples (the opening tune from Grease, I Love Rock & Roll by Joan Jett & The Heartbreakers, Last Night A DJ Saved My Life by Indeep) so that the singles already have a high recognisability level in advance. Greatest Hits is therefore an excellent collector who will undoubtedly end up at the top of the lists. (BP)more
