Earphoria is a household name for loyal Smashing Pumpkins fans. Originally it was a very rare promotional album from 1994. In 2002, however, the band around Billy Corgan no longer exists and so the record company tries to capitalize on it. Because of the very high quality, it would be unjust to describe Earphoria as a collection of residual material. We hear beautiful acoustic versions of Mayonnaise
… and Cherub Rock and very loud live performances of Today, Disarm, Soma, I Am One and Silverfuck. The closing Why Am I So Tired sounds like a preliminary study for the later masterpiece and remains fascinating from start to finish, despite the fact that it is instrumental and lasts more than fifteen (!)
