Cee-Lo Green started his career as a singer with the hip-hop band Goodie Mob. His first two CDs were of little use. The big break came as half of the duo Gnarls Barkley that scored a huge hit with Crazy in 2006. In 2008 he made a second Gnarls Barkley album entitled The Odd Couple with his partner producer Danger Mouse. In 2010, Goodie Mob reunited for a tour of the United States and Green recorded
… his third solo CD The Lady Killer. The big eye-catcher on The Lady Killer is of course the hit Fuck You, which by the way also appears in a cleaned version as Forget You. Green uses many ingredients from pop and soul for his compositions and often mixes these with sixties espionage themes. All this forms a totally idiosyncratic sound spectrum in which the sharp echoes of his voice predominate. This does not always come out well, but at the successful moments you know that this man has a lot more to offer and can undoubtedly look forward to a glorious future. (AD)more
