Junk Of The Heart is the third studio album by British indie group The Kooks. The album, like the two previous CDs, Inside In / Inside Out and Konk, was produced by the American Tony Hoffer. This time the band does without bassist Max Rafferty, who has been replaced by Pete Denton due to alcohol addiction. What is immediately striking is that The Kooks sound a lot more mature than on the Konk released
… in 2008. Musically the band also dares to experiment more, which can be clearly heard on Time Above The Earth, which lasts less than two minutes. The song Eskimo Kiss is a gem and would not have been out of place on a Beatles album. Album opener Junk Of The Heart and the glowing Runaway are characteristic Kooks songs and the boys show that they still master their 'old' sound with the new bass player Denton.more
