In the past Daniel Lohues sometimes went to the United States for inspiration, but for this album he is looking close to home. Lohues plays listening songs at walking pace and the lyrics of the songs all originated within walking distance of his kitchen table. He sings a consolation song for a friend with a sick father, there is a song about the medieval duke Widukind and Just 'N Dag Op' N Dorp is
… exactly about a day in the village. Why not? When you look at the long playlist of Lohues' theater tour, you can see how beloved he is in the north and east of the Netherlands. Then you understand why Loheus likes to stay at home. Or as he sings it himself: 'It is no Cote d'Azur here that you can make yourself young that I am most comfortable here by the fire'. (PdK)more
