The influential group Pixies, which laid the foundation for alternative bands such as and between 1987 and 1993 , has been leading a new life since 2004. This is mainly based on lucrative tours for audiences who come to hear Where Is My Mind, Monkey Gone To Heaven or other crackers from the early albums. A new album ( ) was only released in 2014 , although singer and bassist had finally called
… it quits. The remaining members, including frontman (Frank Black), continued with which sounds like a deal with a less open mouth. Beneath The Eyrie is the third album after the re-creation. It's a typical Pixies record, with a snarling Black in whimsical and dark guitar songs. The single Graveyard Hill would not have been out of place on an early album, with that typical muddy guitar sound of Joey Santiago. But the magic is gone that makes Pixies invariably sound like a faded reflection of their old selves. Soon on tour again and the audience entertained with old material. (MR)more
