A pearl of an album! 7.6.9.6. reverts with its fragile and dreamy atmosphere to the early years of Spider Fish. Then the loner in his attic room in Nieuwegein tinkered with his original collage-like music himself. In the spring of 2020 Erik de Jong found himself isolated at home again during the coronalockdown. Like in a timeless cocoon, inspiring phrases, impulses, dry observations and melancholic
… musings sprang up in him. He incorporated these into his music, of which this time he also took charge of the mix in addition to the production. As we are used to from Spinvis, his almost whispering unsteady voice is prayer in an eclectic palette of styles and instruments: synthesizer sounds with strings, piano, guitar, polyphonic vocals and other wonderful sounds and samples. Just like his explanation of the album title - 'a combination of numbers without meaning or sentimental value, unless it's your pin code' - Spinvis leaves all freedom to the listener. He only has to feel, not understand, his associative undulating dream world with humour and tristesse. (SvdP)more
