Mark Oliver Everett, better known as E of Eels, puts on Extreme Witchcraft. And that's while previous albums like
Earth To Dora (2020) and
The Deconstruction (2018) showed vulnerability and modesty. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that on this album Everett joined forces with producer
John Parish, whom he last worked with on
Souljacker (2001). On Extreme Witchcraft, therefore, we again
… hear the raw guitar rock and upbeat rock 'n roll inspired music that also made Souljacker so enjoyable. But don't be fooled by the lighthearted undertone of this album, because in the lyrics Everett once again shows himself to be a candid person. The playfulness of bouncing riffs make sure that after listening to Extreme Witchcraft you will be left with a good feeling. (JvQ)more
