Eurythmics, consisting of and , scored regular hits since 1983. Up to 1989 eight albums were released. In 1990 they each started a solo career, which turned out to be more successful for Lennox than for Stewart. Although both stated in 1992 that a renewed collaboration in the future was highly unlikely, Peace brought the duo back together. Anyone who already knew Eurythmics from their previous work
… will not be surprised by this album. Peace consists mainly of mid-tempo 80s synth-pop, on which Lennox still sings in her well-known soulful way, which was often recorded in duplicate. Potential hits include the Beatles-like Forever and orchestral songs like I Saved The World Today, Beautiful Child, Anything But Strong, Lifted and the single 17 Again, for which a chorus was borrowed from their old hit Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This). The rockers Power To The Meek and I Want It All are less successful. (CK)more
