This is a wonderful documentary about the life of George Harrison. The life of the Beatles guitarist has already been described in many biographies and thus should be considered familiar, especially for Beatles fans. And yes, the song he wrote for The Beatles, his interest in meditation and spirituality, the concert for Bangladesh, The Traveling Wilburys: it all comes along. The great thing is that
… director Martin Scorcese manages to hold your attention for four (!) Hours. Harrison led a special life, but the great thing is that this film is not canonization. Despite the fact that Harrison could be warm, funny, and wise, some of the interviewees also point out his weaknesses, such as his fondness for cocaine and adultery. The film features interviews with his wife Olivia, ex-wife Pattie, son Dhani, friends and colleagues (including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Eric Clapton) also provide plenty of archive footage from gigs and from the studio. Living In The Material World is a must-see, and not just for Beatles fans. (PdK)more
