The Festival de la Trova in Santiago de Cuba in 1999 celebrated Cuarteto Patria's 60th birthday. Then the plan was also born to make a tribute CD, a tribute to all the band members of Cuarteto Patria during the past 60 years. Singer and guitarist Eliades Ochoa, the leader of this group since 1978, has chosen fifteen songs for the CD "Tributo al Cuarteto Patria" that tell the history of the group,
… with their own music and music from fellow musicians of the time. Some musicians joined Cuarteto Patria for this project, including Armando Machado (ex-member), Rey Cabrera, María Ochoa (Eliades' sister) and Faustino Oramas alias "El Guayabero".
