During the release of his 77th album Divorcio, the Spanish top singer Julio Iglesias has just passed the age of sixty, but he says he still feels 'as powerful as a thunderbolt'. He feels blessed to marry the Dutch Miranda Rijnsburger, with whom he has had two sons and twin girls. From this third stage of life, Iglesias feels the need to reflect on the present and the past. Proof of this is the
… Spanish-language album Divorcio, a very personal album in which he looks back on his failed first marriage. Iglesias sings about the grief and heartbreak after the divorce, but also about recovering from this dark period and the experience of a new romantic love. Iglesias composed seven of the eleven tracks in collaboration with René L. Toledo, Roberto Livi, Rudy Pérez and Rafael Ferro. Iglesias predominantly sings calm ballads and alternates them with lighter, swinging Latin pop songs such as Divorcio, El Bacalao and Criollo Soy. At his ripe age, Iglesias' voice continues to sound timelessly sensual and gallant. (SvdP)more
