After an energetic career start, it seemed to become quiet around the young Dutch singer Julian Thomas. Yet he certainly did not sit still after his self-titled debut from 2005. He was involved in the successful theater program Motel Westcoast, in which Dutch artists paid tribute to American westcoast music from the seventies. And he worked on the follow-up to his debut, which he worked on for almost
… three years according to the album title. Thomas has clearly learned a thing or two from his theater work. The polyphony that characterizes westcoast music can be heard on 35 Some Months, especially the melodic pop rock of Andrew Gold and 10CC seems a source of inspiration. It is a sound that in 2009 has been brought up to date by bands like The Feeling and Mika. A surprising development for the man who seemed doomed to go through life forever as the Dutch Jamie Cullum.
