The Californian band The Beach Boys were at the beginning of the sixties, founded by brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and school friend Al Jardine. Soon it was obvious the musical formula: a mix of rock and roll and the complex harmonies of groups like The Four Freshmen and the Hi-Lo's, wrapped in songs where the delights of California (sun, sand and surf) were sung .
Brian Wilson, the group had offered a brilliant songwriter. The debut single Surfin '(1961) The Beach Boys scored a local hit on the west coast. With Surfin 'Safari (1962) and Surfin' USA (1963) followed a national and later international breakthrough.
