Music and guitar playing in particular were passed on from generation to generation in the Pizzarelli family. Father Bucky Pizzarelli learned the string playing from his uncles Peter and Bobby Domenick and then passed it on to his sons John and Martin who later chose the bass. Sunday At Pete's is the first CD that Bucky, John and Martin have recorded together. It has become a real family album,
… because drummer Tony Tedesco visits the Pizzarelli house so often that he has been considered a full family member for years. With John on electric guitar and Bucky acoustic, this foursome is heading down the nostalgic path, back to the days of early swing. The same time where the Rosenberg Trio, that other jazz guitarist family, prefers to stay. Sunday At Pete's exudes a wonderful, sultry, relaxed atmosphere, that only musicians who have been attuned to each other for a lifetime can create. (AD)more
