The ninth edition of Dylan's archival project The Bootleg Series consists of all kinds of material that has been known to fans for years. These are demos that the young singer / songwriter made for his publishing house M. Witmark & Sons in the period 1962-1964. At the time, songwriters mainly earned money from the covers that artists recorded of their songs. That's why Dylan recorded simple
… demos of songs that later became known in performances by , and of course the master himself. These two discs with no less than 47 songs present Dylan in its purest form: vocals, harmonica and a guitar or piano. Here and there he makes a mistake or tunes his guitar. The demos were recorded with simple equipment and therefore did not sound too good in the early sixties. But brilliant songs like Mama, You Been On My Mind or All Over You are no less brilliant because they sound dusty. The real fan has had most of these recordings at home for a long time, but they will be presented here neatly and in the best possible sound quality. And that is no mean feat given the original condition of the master tapes. (JE)more
