Shortly after he left the Beatles, Paul McCartney took the term "solo career" very literally. He recorded everything himself and also played all the instruments. … but composed a number of energetic songs that are some of the best songs he wrote in the post-Beatles era. The opening track Too Many People is a typical melodic McCartney song. In 3 Legs he shows his bluesy side while Heart Of The Country is an acoustic song. The radio hit Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey is most reminiscent of his Beatles work. What's good about Aries is that the singer never gets lost in experimental drive or sentimental kitsch.
